Belly Blessings

Sacred art for mother and baby.

True story: I did my first belly blessing on the fly at an 80’s themed birthday party in 2012. It was an absolute blast and I’ll never forget the adorable nesting peacocks that I was so proud of that day! I was in a room full of doulas and midwives and we were all pleased as punch!

But since then I’ve realized how much I love slowing down and spending time one-on-one with the mom-to-be. Every chance I’ve had to adorn an expecting mother has been an amazing opportunity to offer a little (much-needed) attention, love, and protection to mama before the baby arrives. Most belly blessing sessions are around 90 minutes, which gives mom some “me-time” to put her feet up and relax in this sacred moment of transition and new life.

I hope you enjoy the following collection of belly blessings through the years. The photos in the first gallery are from my most recent session and were taken by the incredibly talented Rebecca DeNell of Honeystung Studios. Scroll a little further for older work, including the previously mentioned nesting peacocks for Julia that started it all!
